Kevin C. Clark, President and CEO
Kevin co-founded Cross Country in 1986 and served as its Chairman and CEO until 1994, after which he led several healthcare staffing and innovative marketing and technology companies. After more than 30 years of experience building and leading several public and private companies, Kevin has returned as Cross Country Healthcare’s President and CEO to provide strategic direction and a clear vision towards the future. His entrepreneurial mindset and extensive experience with technology and marketing will serve the company well as the staffing market evolves, positioning Cross Country Healthcare to increase shareholder value and emerge the industry leader.  Prior to re-joining Cross Country Healthcare in 2019, Kevin held leadership positions at Talivity, Inc., OGH, LLC, and Pinnacor and received a B.B.A. from Florida Atlantic University.

Susan E. Ball, Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
Susan serves as the legal advisor to Cross Country Healthcare’s CEO and board of directors, overseeing corporate governance, securities matters, risk management, workers’ compensation, insurance, litigation, and mergers and acquisitions and facilitating strategic corporate initiatives. Prior to practicing law, she was a Registered Nurse, giving her unique insight into the legal matters facing the company. Susan has extensive experience with public company issues, serving as a valuable strategic partner to Cross Country Healthcare’s leadership team. Prior to joining Cross Country Healthcare, Susan held positions at Gunster, a Florida-based law firm. and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom, and served as a director of Jamestown Indemnity.   Ms. Ball is a member of the Florida bar and the New York bar and received her B.S. from Ohio State University, cum laude, J.D. from New York Law School, magna cum laude, and M.B.A. from Florida Atlantic University, magna cum laude.

William J. (Bill) Burns, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
As Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Bill is responsible for leading Cross Country Healthcare’s finance, accounting & tax, treasury, procurement, investor relations and shared services functions. With more than 25 years of experience, Bill is a valuable member of the executive team, providing critical insights and expertise to enhance business performance and grow the company’s market share. He is deeply engaged in developing the company’s strategic business plans and financial strategies, as well as improving operational performance company-wide.  Prior to joining Cross Country Healthcare, Bill held leadership positions at Gartner, CA, Adecco and Honeywell. He is a certified public accountant and received B.A. from Queens College and a M.B.A .from NYU Stern School of Business.

Paul Esselman, President Cejka Search
As President of Cejka Search, Paul provides strategic oversight and operational direction for the company, while serving as an invaluable resource to healthcare executive leaders as they seek solutions to talent management, organizational development and succession planning. With more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare executive search industry, Paul is nationally recognized as a thought leader and industry spokesperson. He is active across the speakers’ circuit and in national media outlets. Prior to joining Cejka Search, Paul held leadership positions at LipoScience and IMPATH, Inc. and received a B.A. from Southern Illinois University.

William G. (Bill) Halnon, Chief Information Officer
Having served as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at four Fortune 1000 companies in the last 20 years, Bill has built a thriving career elevating and leveraging technology for a diverse range of companies. As the CIO for Cross Country Healthcare, he sets the overarching strategy for leveraging emerging technologies across the organization, including digital tools, big data and artificial intelligence. Through these innovative technologies, Bill delivers intuitive, user-friendly tools and processes that enhance the company’s interactions with clients, talent and employees. Prior to joining Cross Country Healthcare, Bill held leadership positions at Aldebo Digital, Inc., Republic Services, Inc. and Spherion Corporation and received a B.S. from Florida State University.

Kip A. Havel, Chief Marketing Officer
As Chief Marketing Officer, Kip is responsible for developing and executing the marketing and communications strategies for Cross Country Healthcare and its family of brands. He brings more than 20 years of experience in marketing and communications and has received national recognition as one of “4 under 40” Emerging Leaders by the American Marketing Association, a “Rising Star” by PR Week and an “Ace Communicator” by Ragan and PR Daily. Kip serves as an instrumental leader in driving business performance through impactful and innovative integrated marketing initiatives. Prior to joining Cross Country Healthcare, Kip held leadership positions at Randstad USA, Aflac and Spherion Corporation and received a B.S.C. from the University of Miami.

Colin McDonald, Vice President, Human Resources and Labor Relations
Colin oversees Cross Country’s human capital strategy and human resources initiatives, including corporate-wide employee benefits programs, training and development, employee and labor relations, organizational development and succession planning. With nearly 15 years of experience in the human resources industry, Colin has had a significant impact across many areas of the company, helping shape business strategy and talent development to build a world class, high performing workforce that drives the company’s competitive distinction. Prior to joining Cross Country Healthcare, Colin held leadership positions at Carnival Cruise Lines, RandCol Staffing and Citrix and received a B.A. from the State University of New York and M.S. from Mercy College.

Karen Mote, President of Cross Country Locums
Karen is responsible for the strategic direction and day-to-day business operations for Medical Doctor Associates (MDA). She is uniquely qualified in her role as President, having spent more than 20 years moving up the ranks of MDA and serving in a range of director and executive-level roles. Having worked herself in the healthcare field, Karen is committed to creating deep partnerships with healthcare facilities and providing caring, qualified healthcare providers that are passionate about patient care. Karen received an A.A.S. from North Georgia Technical College.

David Pantano, President, Cross Country Search
As President of Cross Country Search, David provides strategic oversight and operational direction for the company, with a particular focus on nurturing the firm’s many long-term client and talent relationships. He brings more than 20 years of experience in the industry and has transformed start-up healthcare staffing companies into high performing businesses. David’s strength in new business development and emphasis on building strong professional partnerships allows Cross Country Search to expand its market share and fuel the company’s growth. Prior to joining Cross Country Search, David held leadership positions at AP Staffing, Hoffman Recruiters and Hall Kinion and earned a B.S. from the University of Maryland.

Stephen (Steve) Saville, Executive Vice President of Operations
Steve is responsible for enhancing operational efficiencies and delivering continuous improvement company-wide, as well as overseeing key brands within Cross Country Healthcare, including Cross Country Search, Cejka Search, Cross Country Locums and DirectEd. Throughout his 25-year career, he has started, operated, led, acquired and grown businesses operating in the healthcare staffing and workforce solutions sector. His strong track record of scaling companies, leveraging technology to grow revenue and continuously focusing on operational improvements will deliver exceptional results for Cross Country Healthcare’s shareholders and stakeholders. Prior to joining Cross Country Healthcare, Steve held leadership positions at CareerStaff Unlimited, Genesis and Medefis, Inc., and received a B.S. and B.A. from Cabrini University and a J.D. from Widener University School of Law.

Mihal Spiegel, Executive Director of DirectEd Educational Services
As Executive Director, Mihal leads the DirectEd team in building and maintaining school partnerships that align with the company’s mission of being educator-led, student-driven and solutions-oriented. As a former public school educator and administrator working in inner city schools, Mihal saw first hand the lack of quality services and innovative solutions being offered to students. This experience continues to fuel her passion and dedication to serving the ever evolving needs of public schools. Prior to joining DirectEd, Mihal served as a curriculum coordinator and a teacher and received a B.A. and M.S. from California State University.

Buffy White, President, Workforce Solutions and Services
Buffy is responsible for leading sales, financial performance and client services of Cross Country Healthcare brands that comprise nursing, allied and workforce solutions. With more than 25 years of experience in the staffing industry, Buffy brings a broad range of strategic and tactical knowledge in customer development, strategic sourcing, process engineering, business process improvement, change management and dynamic team building. Her deep expertise in designing, developing and managing high performance, high-growth organizations serves her well in providing strategic direction across multiple brands. Prior to joining Cross Country Healthcare, Buffy held leadership positions at Pontoon, Adecco and SFN Group.

Marisa Zaharoff, President, Nurse and Allied Operations
In her role as President of Nurse and Allied Operations, Marisa is responsible for the strategic direction, business and operational performance of the business. As a Registered Nurse, Marisa has unique insight into the healthcare and nursing industries, alongside her more than 20 years of quality improvement, sales, operational and branch management experience. Under her leadership, Medical Staffing Network is currently listed as Staffing Industry Analysts’ largest per diem nursing firms in the U.S. Prior to joining Medical Staffing Network, Marisa held positions at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago as a travel nurse. She received her B.S.N. from University of Pittsburgh and her M.S.N. from University of Illinois.

Clinical Leadership

Henry 'Hank' Drummond, PhD, MDiv, BA, RN
Vice President/Chief Clinical Officer

As the Chief Clinical Officer for Cross Country Healthcare, Hank oversees the organization’s Clinical, Quality, Education and Regulatory Compliance. Throughout his more than 25-year career, Hank has applied his healthcare administration experience and a broad base of exceptional management expertise to assist organizations’ meet their long-term objective of delivery superior patient care. His past leadership roles have included executive and director level positions as Chief Nursing Officer, Nursing Administrator and Nurse Executive. He has also served as a University Instructor at Indiana University and Montana State University. Hank’s proficiency in balancing patient care with business efficiencies provides Cross Country Healthcare clients with an innovative approach, supported by cutting edge technology, to meet the daily demands of healthcare delivery. Hank earned his RN at St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing, his bachelor degree from Ottawa University, his master degree from Concordia University and was awarded a doctorate from Canterbury University.

Liz Cantwell, BSN, RN
Senior Vice President of Workforce Solutions
Chief Nursing Officer

Liz serves as Senior Vice President of Workforce Solutions and Chief Nursing Officer, overseeing the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that provide healthcare facilities customized solutions to meet their specific workforce needs.  Understanding the dynamics impacting the industry, Liz provides healthcare professionals and facilities with expert insight to help them improve client satisfaction and patient outcomes and ensure quality measures are met.  She also serves as the clinical executive sponsor for several partnerships nation-wide, leading efforts to continually identify strategies for the improvement in contingent healthcare professional supply, retention and quality.  Part of the Cross Country Healthcare family for more than 15 years, Liz has been instrumental in a variety of clinical leadership roles, including the oversight of Workforce Solutions implementation, operations, client relationships, analytics & reporting and clinical services.  Liz graduated from St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London and University of London, England.
